In today’s post, we’re going to talk all about goal setting and how to achieve your goals
You can watch the video version of this here.
Before you start your fitness journey you’ll need to know the how to’s of setting goals for weight loss.
Most people fail before they even start because they haven’t set a goal. But don’t think by just setting a goal you will achieve your goals.
The truth is, anyone can set a goal but very few actually know how to achieve fitness goals!
I am going to show you how to set SMART goals for fitness and a method shared to me by a famous olympian that will help you guarantee fitness and weight loss success! Setting goals for fitness will give you motivation and a plan to help you achieve your results.
So, what are SMART goals?
SMART Goals are goals that are
S – Specific
M – Measurable
A – Attainable/Agreeable
R – Realistic
T – Time Bound
In other words, I want to lose weight isn’t a SMART goal.
“Something like I want to lose 10 kg in the next 6 months by ensuring I go to the gym 4 times a week and track my calories every day using my fitness pal to ensure i am in a calorie deficit”
Is a much more powerful goal.
Also, a big mistake people make is the goals are focussed on the end outcome.
Instead of focussing your goal on the end outcome, focus your goal on the actions you need in order to achieve your goal.
Let’s use the above example again.
Whilst the smart goal is powerful, you can then create a daily tick sheet of what actions you need to do.
– Exercise for 30 mins or go for a 30 minute walk
– Drink 2.5l of water
– Eat vegetables with 3 of my meals
– Sleep 8 hours
– Eat 1g of Protein per kg of body weight
Then you can tick these off every day and get addicted to achieving the goal. You’ll be far more likely to succeed!
Let me know how you get on with this tip!
